A Classic Summer Wedding at Inn on the Lake, Ullswater – Sarah & Sam

Lake District Wedding

Sarah and Sam’s wedding at the Inn on the Lake in Ullswater was everything you’d hope for from a summer celebration — full of warmth, emotion, and the most stunning lakeside backdrop.

The day began with Sarah getting ready alongside her mum in a bright bay window overlooking the hotel gardens and Ullswater. It was the perfect peaceful spot for hair, makeup, and a bit of calm before the excitement kicked in.

Meanwhile, Sam and his groomsmen were getting suited up — beers in hand and plenty of laughs. He looked absolutely brilliant, and it was clear the nerves were starting to build in the best possible way.

Before the ceremony, Sarah and Sam exchanged handwritten letters and gifts. A quiet, thoughtful moment that added something really special to the morning — a lovely way to feel close before seeing each other at the aisle.

With Sarah ready in her beautiful dress, we had time for a few quick portraits before heading outside, where the ceremony was set by the lake. Guests gathered around the gazebo with a view that looked like something off a postcard. Sam took his place, and then all eyes turned to watch Sarah walk down the aisle.

The ceremony was full of genuine emotion — smiles, happy tears, and personal readings from their friends and family. After the all-important first kiss, the new Mr and Mrs made their way back down the aisle under a flurry of confetti.

We gathered everyone for a big group photo, followed by a few quick family shots, before heading down to the jetty and over to the mirror pond for some relaxed couple portraits. Fifteen minutes later, Sarah and Sam were back with their guests, soaking up the hugs, drinks, and congratulations.

The Inn on the Lake put on an incredible wedding breakfast, followed by speeches that really hit the mark — personal, funny, and full of warmth. The best men even dug out some top-tier photos of Sam through the years, which went down a storm.

As the sun began to set, we took a quiet wander around the hotel grounds for one last round of portraits near the ancient oak tree — a perfect way to steal a few minutes together before the evening party kicked off.

And what a party it was. The celebrations moved into the Ramblers Bar and Candle Room, where a brilliant saxophonist got the dancefloor going. Sarah and Sam didn’t leave it all to the guests either — they were right in the middle of it, dancing the night away.
