Wedding Photography FAQs

So, what would you like to know?

Do you have insurance?

Yes, I do have public liability insurance. More importantly, do you have wedding insurance?

What happens if you are ill or your equipment fails?

I’m lucky to have a number of friends that are photographers that would be happy to assist me if I am unwell. I am also a member of a number of wedding photography referral groups that have been specifically set up to help out in an emergency. Please rest assured that I am very picky in choosing who I work with to ensure both quality and professionalism.

I work with two cameras and use both throughout the day. I’m slightly paranoid and you will therefore see me checking images on the back of my cameras throughout the day.

When can we see the images?

I offer an early-bird package where I will ensure that you receive five digital images within 24 hours of your service. You will receive your fully edited images within 4-6 weeks of your wedding. The images are provided on a beautifully boxed USB stick and come with an unlimited print and usage licence.

What do you class as edited?

Firstly, I’ll remove the unflattering images – the eyes half shut or mouth half full etc. Then I will straighten, exposure and colour correct the images.

I will spend a good bit of time on your couples portraits. As a general rule of thumb, I will only remove anything that won’t be there in two weeks. As in I’ll edit out spots but I won’t remove tattoos – they are part of you, so why would I?  Please be advised that I will not photoshop people in or out of images – it is my opinion that this rarely looks right unless completed by a professional graphic designer.

Will we have a pre-wedding photo shoot?

If you would like a pre-wedding photo shoot please let me know. These are charged in addition to my standard wedding packages and further information can be found on my packages page here.

Will there be additional travel/accommodation/food costs?

Food – I like to be fed 😊  Some venues include a “suppliers meal” with your booking so it may be worth checking in with them. All I ask is that you let me know if I am to be fed beforehand so that I can arrange alternative if not.

There will only be an additional charge for travelling or accommodation if your venue is more than two hours’ drive from Stockport and I will discuss this with you prior to booking.

How long will you be there?

My packages are based upon hours of coverage and we will agree a start time well in advance so you will know exactly what is to be covered.  I do like to arrive early and will usually stay for 10-15 minutes after I’m due to leave to make sure I’ve captured as much as possible.

Who holds image copyright?

You will receive an unlimited licence to print and use the images as you like. I do retain the copyright as I may use some of the images for self-promotion. Please bear in that as a wedding photographer, I need to be able to show prospective clients that I am current and competent. If I did not retain the copyright, I would not be able to attract new customers which would leave me dead in the water. If you have any concerns, please feel free to chat this through with me.
